It is impossible to match our results with naked eye. In addition to the benefits to our work, the microscope directs a beam of light directly on the teeth, minimizing the glare and discomfort for you.
Dr. Guess carefully chooses when and what radiographs are taken. There are many guidelines that we follow to determine the best method in which to treat you. The reason we use radiographs is that they allow us to see what we cannot see with our own eyes. They allow us to detect cavities in between teeth, determine bone levels, and analyze the health of the bone. We can also examine the roots and nerves of teeth, diagnose lesions, such as cysts and tumors, as well as assess damage when trauma occurs.
Dental radiographs are an invaluable aid to diagnosing, treating, and maintaining dental health to the best of our abilities. Exposure time during dental radiographs is extremely minimal. Dr. Guess uses Digital Imaging Technologies in the office, which means exposure time is almost 50% less than traditional radiographs. Digital imaging also helps us collect valuable diagnostic information, such as easier detection of cavities.
Digital imaging also enables us to store patient images,so that we can quickly and easily transfer them to specialists or insurance companies.
Digital X-rays offer a higher degree of precision because we are able to view the images on a computer screen, rather than holding a 35mm film up to a light. Digital X-rays also cut radiation exposure by almost 85%.

Laser dentistry is one of dentistry’s latest advances. Lasers deliver energy in the form of light. Depending upon the purpose, this energy travels at a specified wavelength and is absorbed by the target. In dentistry, these targets can be enamel, decay, gum tissue, or whitening enhancers. Each one responds to a different wavelength of light while reflecting others. Laser dentistry can be used in both tooth and soft tissue related procedures. Normally, no local anesthesia is required. Unlike the dental drill, lasers produce no heat or vibration, making the procedure comfortable for most patients. For soft tissue (surgical) procedures, it eliminates the need for suturing, so healing occurs much faster.
Lasers can also be used to diagnose cavities. They can find hidden decay in teeth in early stages, and in some cases this decay can be reversed thru hygiene and fluoride treatments and never require filling.

Intraoral cameras allow our practice to get a clear precise view of your mouth, teeth, and gums. With clear, defined images, we can see details that may be missed by standard mirror examinations. This can mean faster diagnosis with less chair-time for you!
Intraoral cameras also enable our practice to save your images in our office computer to provide permanent records of your treatments. These images can be printed for you, other specialists, and your lab or insurance companies.
